RED REIDING HOOD: Travel Hei Helsinki skyline city finland night

Last week my boyfriend surprised me with someting very exciting: We’re going to Helsinki (capital of Finland), how cool is that?! Very cool if you ask me! I’ve always wanted to go to Scandinavia. First of all, because of the minimalism in architecture and fashion, I really love Scandinavian style. Second of all, in my thoughts Finland is a beautiful country. We’re going during wintertime, December, so for the first time in my life I will be experiencing a real winter (hello thermowear), which I think is pretty cool. Besides the pretty winter scenes, another advantage of visiting Helsinki during this time of the year is the fact that it’s (ice) hockey season! If you’ve read my about page, you might know that my boyfriend and pretty much the rest of my family are hockey players.

But the real point of this post is gathering tips! Have you ever been to Helsinki or Finland in general? I’d love to hear about your experiences get some tips. For example: Nice places to go out for diner or the best shops (I already got BikBok, GinaTricot and Lindex on my list ;)). Do tell!

Lots of love,

Ps: ‘Hei Helsinki’ is Finnish for ‘Hello Helsinki’ ;)

Hi! It was nice to meet u in Instagram :) Sooo, greetings from Helsinki! I live in this beautiful, fabulous city!

n December everything is usually very beautiful (and cold). Everywhere is X-mas lights shining and special things are happening.

Aleksanterinkatu is our shopping street, but also on Mannerheimintie is many shops and stores. Here is for example H&M, Lindex and Kappahl, swedish budget shops. Kamppi and Forum are shopping malls and they are close together. In both of them are many shops and restaurans, cafes etc.

Stocmann is quite big shopping mall and its in the beginning of Aleksanterinkatu. I really recommend that place, there is much Finnish design and many international brans for sale. Stockmann is quite expensive plase, but if you want good brands more cheaper, try find Anttila shopping mall.

Iittala and Arabia are really high-quality brands of dishes and they are manyfacturing e.g Moomin deshes and many more. I love both of brands!

Helsinki is small idyllic city and evreyting is close to each other. Public traffic is well working, but much places are in small area, so you can walk almost everywhere.

One very must-tip I got to give: go to Mannerheimintie 3 and fall in love to big adorable hand made marketplace! Thera are much unique things to give x-mas present or by for souvenier.

Feel free to ask me anything :)

    Tervetuloa! (=welcome in finnish).
