Liquid lipstick – & Other Stories (available HERE)

If I had to pick one favorite beauty product, it would definitely be lipsticks. I just think my lips are my best feature and I love to enhance them. My favorite colors are nude hues, which I think look very classy and never overdone (like a red lipstick can). And the matter the better. So when I came across this liquid lipstick at & Other Stories in Argyle Hazel last week I just had to take it home with me: it seemed the perfect color, the perfect finish and it’s cruelty free. What else could I wish for?

Like everything from & Other Stories the packaging is beyond gorgeous. I’m just a big sucker for minimalism. But is it really as good as the packaging suggests? Well, I love the color and the matte finish. I was hoping I was able to wear it without a lip pencil though, but unfortunately that’s not the case. I think it’s because the color is so close to my own skin color, that I felt like I needed a harsher line to prevent an ‘ombre effect’ of my lips fading into my face. I think with other more outstanding colors I should be able to wear it without a lip pencil. It’s not a big problem though, but it would have been nice if I didn’t have to (saves some time in the morning). I paired it with the Essence 08 Girl Next Door lip pencil (read more about that one here) in case you’re wondering. Next to that it does make my lips a bit flaky as you can see in the close-up photo. You wouldn’t be able to tell from further away, but if people feel the need to check out my lips from a very close distance (creepy!) they might tell. Again I think this is because of the color, since I noticed the same issue with other nude colored lipsticks, while the rest of the same range seemed okay. Other than that I do think it’s a great product, which says what it does: it’s a long lasting matte lipstick. And I think the price of €15,- is quite fair. Als ik één favoriet beauty product moest kiezen, zou dat zeker lippenstift zijn. Ik ben mijn van mening dat mijn lippen mijn beste kenmerken zijn en daar leg ik graag de nadruk op. Mijn favoriete kleuren zijn nude tinten, welke naar mijn mening erg classy zijn en nooit over de top (zoals rode lippenstift dat wel kan zijn). En hoe matter hoe beter. Dus toen ik deze liquid lipstick van & Other Stories in Argyle Hazel tegenkwam vorige week moest ik ‘m mee naar huis nemen: het leek de perfecte kleur, de perfecte finish en het is dierproefvrij. Wat kon ik nog meer wensen?

Zoals alles bij & Other Stories is de verpakking meer dan prachtig. Ik heb gewoon een enorm zwak voor minimalisme. Maar is het echt zo goed als de verpakking doet vermoeden? Ik ben dol op de kleur en de matte finish. Maar ik hoopte wel dat ik ‘m kon dragen zonder lippotlood, maar dat is helaas niet het geval. Ik denk dat dat komt omdat de kleur zo dichtbij mijn eigen huidskleur in de buurt komt, dat ik het gevoel had dat ik een hardere lijn nodig had om een ‘ombre effect’ van lippen die overgaan in mijn gezicht te voorkomen. Ik denk dat het bij meer opvallende kleuren wel meevalt en dat ik die prima zonder lippotlood kan dragen. Het is ook geen enorm probleem, maar het was gewoon fijn geweest als het niet had gehoeven (scheelt weer wat tijd in de ochtend).l Ik combineerde ‘m met Essence 08 Girl Next Door lippotlood (lees hier alles over dat product) mocht je het je afvragen. Daarnaast merkte ik ook dat het mijn lippen een beetje ‘vellerig’ maakte zoals je kan zien in de close-up foto. Van een afstand zou je het echter niet zien, maar als mensen de drang voelen om mijn lippen van heel dichtbij te bekijken (creepy!) dan zien ze het misschien wel. Nogmaals komt dit denk ik door de kleur, aangezien ik hetzelfde probleem heb gehad met andere nude kleurige lippenstift, terwijl de rest van dezelfde lijn wel oké leek. Verder vind ik het een goed product dat zegt wat het doet: het is een langhoudende matte lippenstift. En ik vind de prijs van €15,- ook prima. Zoals ik zei is ie verkrijgbaar in meerdere kleuren, bekijk ze allemaal hier!
