Like you probably all already know by now I’m busy decorating our bedroom. One of the things I wanted was more green in the bedroom so I went searching for a nice houseplant. At first I wanted a monstera, but unfortunately they are toxic for cats: not that convenient when you have too curious kitties. So I went looking for a plant with big leafs (I like that) that aren’t toxic for cats and found the banana plant. It was love at first sight and I just had to have one, so I immediately jumped on my bike and cycled to Intratuin (a big garden center). And thank God it was there: the banana plant! For sale! I think I paid 8 in stead of 10 euros. A nice deal I think

So there it is, the banana plant. I really think it’s an awesome plant with those big leafs and I love it. The only down size is that it loves water (three times per week approximately) and I’m not the best plant caretaker in the world, but we shall see how that works out ;)

In case you also have cats and are looking for a cat friendly houseplant, I can also advice the very trendy Canary date palm and the gold palm. I think I might get one of those two myself as well, for in the living room.

Zoals jullie inmiddels waarschijnlijk wel weten ben ik druk bezig onze slaapkamer gezellig te maken. Om dat te bereiken wilde ik ook graag meer groen in de slaapkamer en dus ging ik op zoek naar een geschikte kamerplant. Eigenlijk wilde ik eerst graag een gatenplant, maar helaas zijn die giftig voor katten: niet zo handig met twee nieuwsgierige kittens in huis. Dus ging ik op zoek naar een plant met grote bladeren (die vind ik mooi) die niet giftig zijn voor katten en vond ik de bananenplant. Ik was meteen verliefd en moest en zou er één in huis hebben, dus sprong ik op m’n fiets naar de Intratuin. En godzijdank stond ie daar: de bananenplant! In de aanbieding nog wel! Volgens mij betaalde ik er 8 euro in plaats van 10 euro voor. Een goede deal dacht ik zo.

Dus daar staat ie dan, de bananenplant. Ik vind het echt een gave plant met die grote bladeren en ben er dan ook heel blij mee. Het enige minpuntje is dat ie best veel water nodig heeft (ongeveer drie keer per week) en ik niet zo’n fantastische plantenverzorgster ben, maar we zullen zien hoe dat uitpakt ;)

Mocht je nu ook katten hebben en ook op zoek zijn naar een katvriendelijke kamerplant, dan kan ik ook de hippe Canarische dadelpalm en goudpalm aanraden. Ik denk dat ik er zelf ook nog één van die twee bij ga halen, voor in de woonkamer.
