Last week I told you about my decision to stop using animal cruelty involved cosmetics. Unfortunately my favorite lip liners en lipsticks are all from MAC, a company that does test on animals. So I’m on a mission to find the perfect cruelty free replacements for them.

When I was visiting this Dutch drugstore called ‘Kruidvat’ with my sister last week, I came across a couple of  gorgeous looking lip liners from budget brand Essence. I’m not necessarily looking for budget brands, but if it happens to be a great product as well, I can only so that as a win-win. My sister and I were both intrigued by the lip liners and both decided to bring a couple home. I choose the 08 Girl Next Door and the 05 Lovely Frappuccino The first one is very nude, perfect for that ‘no make up’ look when you do want your lips to be visible and lined, but nothing too much. The second one is a gorgeous red-brown-ish shade, perfect for both casual and festive occasions, just like my prior favorite lip pencil MAC spice. Just have a look at the swacthes and see for yourself. Of course I’ve been wearing them and I can truly say that they will stay put all day, like the name suggests. Of course this does have to do with your eating habits and how much you touch your lips, but if you’re careful it will.

“Budget friendly, long lasting and gorgeous. What else could you wish for?”

Then my sister found a gorgeous matte lipstick shade from Catrice, yet another budget brand: Catrice Ultimate Stay 150 Chocolate Kiss. It seemed to be the perfect match with the Essence 05 Lovely Frappuccino lipliner. So of course that one had to go with me as well. And I’m so freaking glad I did! As you can tell by looking at the second to last photo it actually is a perfect match. Plus it’s a matte color, but it’s not super matte and dehydrating. It’s just perfect! I’ve been wearing this lip combo non-stop since I got them. Can you blame me? I mean it’s budget friendly, long lasting and gorgeous. What else could you wish for?

And when we almost decided to go to the counter, I spotted this Essence nail polish line called ‘The Nudes’, which really appealed to me. So obviously I had to pick up on of those as well. I decided to go for the 08 Crunchy Cake, which is a gorgeous taupe kind of shade. It’s so my style! I’ve used it once now and it looked good for 3 days, which I think is quite okay, right?

So I’m very happy with my purchases, but I’d still to know if you have any cruelty free recommendations to substitute my favorite MAC products (MAC studio fix fluid foundation, MAC twig lipstick and MAC spice lip liner)!

Vorige week vertelde ik jullie over mijn beslissing om te stoppen met het gebruik van cosmetica waar dieren voor hebben moeten lijden. Helaas zijn mijn favoriete lip liners en lipsticks allemaal van MAC, een bedrijf die wel test op dieren. Dus ben ik op een missie om de perfecte proefdiervrije vervangers hiervoor te zoeken.

Toen ik vorige week met mijn zusje bij de Kruidvat was, liep ik tegen een paar hele mooie lip liners van het budgetmerk Essence aan. Ik ben niet perse op zoek naar budget merken, maar als het ook nog eens een goed product blijkt te zijn, zie ik dat wel als een win-win. Mijn zusje en ik vonden de lip liners beiden enorm interessant en besloten er een paar mee te nemen. Ik koos de 08 Girl Next Door en de 05 Lovely Frappuccino. De eerste is heel nude, perfect voor die ‘no make up’ look waarbij je wel wil dat je lippen zichtbaar en omlijnd zijn, maar niet te opvallend. De tweede is een prachtige rood-bruine kleur, perfect voor zowel casual als feestelijk gelegenheden, net als mijn hiervoor zo geliefde MAC spice lippotlood. Kijk maar eens naar de swatches om te zien hoe mooi ze zijn. Natuurlijk heb ik ze al gedragen en ik kan in alle eerlijkheid zeggen dat ze de hele dag blijven zitten, zoals de naam doet vermoeden. Natuurlijk heeft dit ook te maken met je eetgewoonten en hoeveel je aan je lippen zit, maar als je er een beetje om denkt blijven ze echt lang zitten.

Toen vond mijn zusje ook nog een prachtige matte lippenstift van Catrice, nog zo’n budget merk: Catrice Ultimate Stay 150 Chocolate Kiss Het leek wel de perfecte match met de Essence 05 Lovely Frappuccino lipliner. Dus natuurlijk moest ook die mee naar huis. En dat is echt een hele goede beslissing geweest! Zoals je kan zien op de één na laatste foto is het echte een perfecte match. Daarnaast is het wel een matte lipstick, maar geen supermatte en uitdrogende lippenstift. Gewoonweg perfect! Ik heb deze combinatie non-stop gedragen sinds ik ze heb gekocht. Dat kan je me toch niet kwalijk nemen? Ik bedoel het is betaalbaar, langhoudend en prachtig. Wat wil je nog meer?

En toen we bijna hadden besloten om af te rekenen, spotte ik nog een nagellak lijn van Essence met de naam ‘The Nudes’, welke mij enorm aansprak. Dus natuurlijk moest ik ook daar één van meenemen. Ik besloot voor de 08 Crunchy Cake te gaan, wat een prachtige kleur taupe is. Helemaal mijn stijl! Ik heb ‘t nu één keer gebruikt en het zag er ongeveer drie dagen prima uit, wat volgens mij best oké is. Toch?

Ik ben dus ontzettend blij met mijn aankoopjes, maar ik zou het alsnog graag willen weten als jullie proefdiervrije suggesties hebben om mijn favoriete MAC producten (MAC studio fix fluid foundation, MAC twig lipstick and MAC spice lip liner) te vervangen!
