As you might now I went to two days of Amsterdam Fashion Week last week, day three and four. All the above pictures, except for the last show, were taken on day three.

Michelangelo Winklaar
The very first show I attended was immediately a great one! I already got excited by just hearing the scary and cool music at the same time. It already gave away where this show would just be all about; dark- and edgyness. My predictions turned out to be true. First thing I noticed were these very cool black facemasks. The materials looked luxurious, like velvet, voile, lace and sequins. And I loved the colors: Black, gold, lilac and green. The second one was definitely one of my favorite looks. The model had quite broad hips and this was enhanced by the shape of the coat. And you know what? It made me really think wide hips are drop dead gorgeous! My second favorite look was the second to last photo, the one from behind. Those stockings with suspenders and the python printed leather jacket looked amazing together!

This show was inspired by the Nutcracker and so it opened spectacularly with this beautiful ballet dancer and ended with two bare feeted trumpetists. The collection to me looked like a mix of circus and matadore, a theme I really like. The accents were clearly on big shoulders and bare midriffs, especially that last trend is one I love. The big envelope clucthes were really striking as well. I did really appreciate the idea of this collection, but I personally would have loved to see the use of other materials rather than these, a bit less shiny, so it would look more ‘circus inspired’ in stead of real circus. Besides that little note, I’d say: Thumbs up, David Paulus!

GSUS industries
Since GSUS industries was a very big deal when I was like, thirteen years old, I was really curious for what this show would bring us. ‘Cause ladies and gentlemen, GSUS industries is back in town! It was a very different show compared to the other shows I’ve seen, quite normal actually. These exact same items will be sold at your local GSUS industries seller. Although I prefer the more extravagant shows, a show like this was nice for a change as well. The collection contained some beautiful coats, like the green one in the second photo, perfect knits and this gorgeous shaped pink sweater. But what I liked most were the suits, especially the blue one in the first pic.

The first men’s show I attended didn’t dissapoint me. It seemed very hunters and lumberjacks inspired with a little scent of Napoleon. It was manly, but divine. I really liked the fabrics and the layers. I could actually see myself, although I’m not a man, wearing this. I’m drooling over the jacket the model in the second pic wears. Oh and I loved the fact that the models wore Hunter boots, I never thought they would look extremely cool on men as well! Got to convince my boyfriend to get himself a pair of Hunters!

This was probably the show with the best theme I’ve seen this day: Mill Town. It really felt like you were looking at men on the streets: running over the catwalk trying to catch an imaginary train or eating a sandwich during lunch break. What I especially liked about this show was that I’m a 100 percent sure that my boyfriend would wear this as well. This collection was really wearable with it’s classic suits and business pants. My favorite piece was this big brown scarf on the second photo.

PU, shiny and spacey were the keywords of this collection: I like! I wouldn’t wear the whole outfits, but parts; yes please! Loved the sunnies and the caps. Oh and my favorite was that cool chick with her skateboard at the very end of the show. It really made me want to be a skater chick myself.

So what do you think? Any likes or dislikes? Agrees or disagrees?

Lots of love,
Rowan
